Male circumcision is a surgical technique that has complex social, religious, cultural and gender implications. In the last several years, various clinical trials have been conducted that indicate that male circumcision significantly reduces men’s risk of acquiring HIV through vaginal sex. In this regard, HCM working in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation and the National AIDS Control Council (NACC), has embarked on an information, education and communication campaign that seeks to enlighten the Kenyan population on male circumcision in relation to HIV prevention. The campaign is based on social and behaviorial research of male circumcision and includes findings on the safety of male circumcision.
