| Promising Practice: Community Couple Testing | USAID APHIA II Coast Program has been working with the government to strengthen community participation in health planning at the grassroots. As part of these efforts, the program, jointly with the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, organized a consultative meeting of various local committees in Gongoni, Malindi District, Coast Province. Members of the Community Health Committee (CHC), Village Health Committee (VHC) and other stakeholders attended the meeting. The participants were re-oriented on their roles and advised on the need to work together for the good of their community. A couple is counselled during the integrated health outreach Disclosure by people living with HIV generated much interest. Couple HIV counseling and testing was discussed as one way to support HIV infected people to disclose their status to their spouses.
